Safer Gambling

NetBet’s Philosophy

As part of our dedication to being a fair and open operator, safer gambling is paramount in all that we do. Gambling is a leisure activity and should never be a priority over day-to-day social, family or work commitments, and should never interfere with your financial security. We strive to ensure that all of our customers are playing in a safe, sustainable and entertaining environment and only ever with money and time that should not have been used elsewhere.

You were given financial limits that are bespoke to the information you provided us relating to your income and situation. That said, we encourage the use of our Safer Gambling Tools to help you to manage your activity however is most appropriate for you. You can make your financial limits more restrictive, take breaks or set time reminders or limits in line with your preferences.

From time-to-time, we may also reach out to you to better understand how you feel about your gambling and to see if you may require any additional support. In some cases, we may also ask you to provide evidence of how you have been funding your gambling. Don’t worry – this is very much an industry standard, and the only reason we’d ever ask for this information is to make sure all is well and to allow us to give you the best experience possible. Any information you provide us is also entirely protected by relevant data protection laws and will not be shared outside of our company.

Awareness and Limits

At NetBet, we encourage you to work with us to help you to manage your time and spend in a way that is responsible and appropriate for you. We have a range of safer gambling tools, assessments and regulating features for you to use, and we encourage you to find which ones help you maintain a healthy relationship with your gambling. If this is not the first time you’ve gambled online, chances are you’ll have seen or used similar tools before. These include:

Deposit Limits

Your deposit limits are in place to help you manage your spending and ensure it remains within what you can afford.

You may have:

  • A Net Deposit Limit – a limit you choose to set to further restrict your deposits.
  • A Net Deposit Cap – set by NetBet, based on your declared income and affordability assessment. This reflects your overall net spend (deposits minus withdrawals).
  • A Gross Deposit Limit – set by NetBet, this is the maximum total amount you can deposit within the set time period.

Key points

  • Your net deposit limit allows you to set a lower limit on your deposits, if no withdrawals are made.
  • Your net deposit cap ensures your overall spend remains within your assessed affordability.
  • Your gross deposit limit is the maximum total you can deposit and cannot be exceeded.
  • If you withdraw funds, this reduces your net spend. This allows for further deposits, but only within your existing limits.

Important

  • Even if you lower your net deposit limit, withdrawals can allow further deposits — up to your gross limit. Withdrawals do not increase your limits — they only affect how your net spend is calculated within those limits.
  • Limits are designed to support responsible gambling and help you stay in control of your spending.

Loss Limits

  • Set a limit to the amount that you are able to lose in a specified period, exclusive of deposits.

Bet Limits

  • Set a limit to the amount that you are able to bet in a specified period, exclusive of deposits and profit or loss.

Reality Checks

  • Set a reminder that will inform you at set intervals of how long you have been logged into the site.

Session Timers

  • Set a limit to the amount of time that you are able to be active on the site for a specified period.

Time Outs

  • Set an amount of time that you are temporarily unable to access the site, for a period of between 24 hours to 6 weeks. You will be able to instantly regain access to your account upon expiry of the time period selected.

Self-Exclusions

  • Set an amount of time that you are unable to access the site, for a period of between 6 months to 5 years. Following the expiry of the selected period, you will need to request to reactivate your account by contacting Customer Services and enter a 24-hour cool-off period.

Frame of Mind

Gambling is a form of entertainment and should always be something that you choose to do. As such, we encourage you to gamble in a mindset that allows you to fully enjoy your time. We would recommend not gambling while:

  • Excessively drinking
  • Under the influence of recreational drugs
  • Taking medication that can:
    • Make you forgetful
    • Make you drowsy
    • Make you prone to mood swings
    • Alter your thought process or decision making.
  • Experiencing high levels of stress in your day to day life:
    • Relationship breakups
    • Loss of a close relative/friend
    • Loss of a job/education/career
    • Life-altering events.

Gambling while in an altered mindset can impair your judgement and decision-making abilities, giving you less self-control and increasing the risk of you experiencing gambling-related harm.

If you feel you might be vulnerable to the risks of gambling-related harm, we recommend you speak with a professional such as your GP, for instance.
