Blackjack Rules
Our Blackjack game consists of a dealer and a player. The dealer uses 6 decks of cards, all mixed together.
Placing Bets
- The player chooses the amount to bet by double-clicking on the chip pile. Bet options: £1, £5, £10, £25, £50, £100, £500.
- After selecting bets, click the PLAY button to start the game.
- Once cards are dealt, bets cannot be changed.
- Buttons appear depending on the available options (e.g., SPLIT when applicable).
Objective
The goal is to get as close to 21 as possible without exceeding it:
- Win by having 21 or a total higher than the dealer’s without going bust.
- If totals tie, the player’s initial bet is returned.
Card Values
- Number cards: face value
- Jack, Queen, King: 10 points
- Ace: 1 or 11, chosen by the player
Dealing
- Player receives 2 cards, face up. They may take additional cards as desired.
- Dealer receives 2 cards: one face up, one face down.
- Dealer reveals hidden card after player completes their hand.
Dealer Rules
- Dealer stands on totals between 17–21.
- Dealer hits on totals 16 or less until reaching 17 or more.
- If dealer exceeds 21, player wins automatically.
Winning
- Player wins if hand total is higher than dealer without exceeding 21.
- Hands lower than dealer’s total lose.
- Blackjack (Ace + 10 or face card) pays 1.5× unless dealer also has Blackjack (then it’s a draw).
Player Options
Double
After receiving the first two cards, the player can press DOUBLE:
- Doubles the initial bet.
- Dealer gives a third card face up.
- No additional cards can be taken.
- Can only double after first two cards or after splitting.
Split
If first two cards have the same value, the player may SPLIT into two hands:
- Each hand is played independently.
- Player can take as many cards as desired for each hand, without exceeding 21.
- Splitting Aces: Blackjack counts as 21, draw if dealer has Blackjack.
Stop
Press STOP to quit the game and recover all or half of the initial bet, depending on the situation.
Insurance
Available when dealer’s face-up card is an Ace:
- Player may bet up to half the initial bet to protect against dealer Blackjack.
- If dealer has Blackjack (Ace + 10/face card), insurance pays 2.5×.
- If dealer does not have Blackjack, insurance is lost and game continues normally.
- Cannot SPLIT or DOUBLE while taking insurance.
Push / Draw
If dealer and player totals are equal, the hand is a draw. The player’s initial bet is returned.
